A Shade Sail must be smaller than the distance between its fixing points. This leaves room for the tensioning hardware and allows the sail to be pulled tight.

If a standard-sized sail is too large, there may not be enough space for turnbuckles, shackles, chain, or other tensioning components. If it is too small, it may leave large gaps and provide less shade than expected.
